17 Sport partnered with Wipro to revitalize and relaunch their annual Spirit of Wipro Run to engage employees and help local communities realize their ambitions.
In an increasingly globalized world, local communities can often become disconnected, under-resourced, and ignored. These communities need leaders to bring the focus back to what really matters — building a better future for everyone.
17 Sport was tasked by Wipro, a global technology services and consulting company, to revitalize and relaunch their biggest employee engagement event of the year — the Spirit of Wipro Run — while igniting their brand purpose of Ambitions Realized in support of the local communities they operate in. After a hiatus during the pandemic years where the event only existed virtually, reintroducing the event in person with reinvigorated energy and community focus while maintaining its rich heritage was crucial to Wipro’s objectives.
THE CHALLENGE
OUR SOLUTION
We worked with the global Wipro team to build a purpose and community focused strategy that is rooted in the Wipro brand purpose: helping our communities realize their ambitions. While the strategy was set on a global level, it was developed to be applied across the local level so that each office can authentically activate the Spirit of Wipro Run 2023 across their employees, their communities and local nonprofits.
Alongside devising a new global event strategy, 17 Sport was tasked with managing the delivery and rollout for five marquee Spirit of Wipro Run events, as well as a local ‘race in a box’ toolkit. The Spirit of Wipro Run events took place across the global on October 8, 2023 with the five marquee events happening in Bengaluru, Dubai, London, Mountain View, and New Jersey.
17 Sport worked in close coordination with the local Wipro offices that were responsible for the marquee runs to develop event plans tailored to their specific requirements, limitations, opportunities, and local customs. 17 Sport worked on venue sourcing (such as partnering with the Bengaluru Marathon and Dubai Parks and Resort), hiring and coordinating the on-the-ground partners and the third-party vendors, setting up and handling the global registration system, managing the budget for the events, and overseeing implementation on the day of the event. Each Spirit of Wipro Run event was unique and personalized to its community.
THE IMPACT
The Spirit of Wipro Run was a huge success across the globe, with over 48,000 registrations which included over 50 Wipro locations in addition to the five marquee runs.
Bringing in a record number of participants, all funds raised by sign-ups were matched by Wipro and donated to the selected nonprofit partners. Participants included Wipro employees along with their friends and families, customers, and local partners. This year’s Spirit of Wipro Run was truly a group effort — for the community, by the community.
Ambitions Realized is Wipro’s deeply-held belief and commitment to inspire and ignite personal and professional growth, helping individuals and communities set intentions and reach their goals for a better tomorrow. We were proud to help realize these ambitions through the Spirit of Wipro Run events.
